Flood Event Dec 23rd 2020

This page gives updates on the situation.

  1. All paired volunteers have been asked to contact their paired households and let Chris Thompson know via WhatsApp group
  2. Main contact point is Peter Cross 07946-522629 or Chris Thompson 07437 497917
  3. Sean Brown, Via Drains Champion, is on site at Blenheim circa 3pm. Pump that is not working at Blenheim has been reported (Liz managed to get through a person at NCC from the 0300-500-8080 number on the pump) and they said they would be out today. Mike Keeling has escalated the issue and an engineer will be out tonight (Wed) or tomorrow morning
  4. Two pallets of sandbags being delivered to the Village Hall.
  5. Cocker Beck risen to 0.66m (at circa 5.00pm). The key thing is that it might be plateauing rather than continuing to rise (especially after the just from 0.2 to 0.5m earlier in the day). Been just above 0.6m for about an hour.
  6. River Laybourne is running fast. Katherine reported it is 1 foot high under Plough Lane, two foot wide. This will add water to Cocker Beck that is not measured at Lowdham Grange gauge.
  7. At the same time as the Merevale parapet is full there is still 18 inches to go before the spill weir at the football pitch allows water to escape the beck onto the pitch.
  8. If the blocked tunnel at Lime Tree Gardens was cleared more water could flow past LTG (and maybe then away from village)

Latest situation (Dec 23rd 5.45pm) – Flood ALERT from EA, Cocker Beck level = 0.67m.(was 0.66m at 5.15pm)
